Each championship event is conducted by 10 weight classes — 125, 133, 141, 149, 157, 165, 174, 184, 197 and heavyweight (183-285 lbs). The top eight wrestlers will be seeded with the remaining ten wrestlers drawn randomly.

NCAA DIII wrestling championship history
The DIII wrestling national championship dates back to 1974, skipping 2020 and 2021 due to COVID-19, with the first-ever championship trophy going to Wilkes. Wartburg holds 15 national titles — being coined as the winningest team in championship history. Augsburg College comes in second with a total of 14 national titles.
Augsburg was crowned the 2023 national champion after defeating Wartburg, 101-66.5. Below is a list of all DIII wrestling champs since 1974.
