Kolkata are set to face Bengaluru in their second group-stage match of the tournament. KKR are coming into the game after winning a thriller against Hyderabad, majorly set up by their powerhouse Andre Russell. From a losing position in the first innings of the game, Russell’s incredible effort of 64* off just 25 balls helped KKR save the match against Pat Cummins’ team.
The Kolkata-based franchise will once again back Russell to deliver with the bat at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Friday. The Indian Premier League made a promo on Andre Russell where the all-rounder spoke about playing his favourite shot. Russell said that he was not surprised with the length of the sixes that he hit because he was swinging at the ball as hard as he could.

The all-rounder said the sixes he hit over long-on were his favourites, because when he got a hold of those, the ball tended to go a long way back into the stands. Russell, however, added that it was the sixes straight down the ground that he cherished the most.
Andre Russell had lost his touch as a batter the last few seasons. Against his astronomical standards, Russell’s strike-rate of 145.51 and average of 20.64 looked poor. The Caribbean flair returned in his game in the first outing of IPL 2024, where he smashed 7 sixes vs SRH and scored at a strike-rate of 256.
No visiting teams have won matches in the IPL 2024 so far. Out of the 9 matches won in the IPL 2024 so far, all of them have come for the home side. Shreyas Iyer’s KKR will hope to change that record in the happy hunting ground of Bengaluru, where they have won 7 out of their 11 matches in IPL.
