Jasprit Bumrah says he learnt the art of bowling Yorkers from watching Waqar Younus, Wasim Akram and Zaheer Khan on the television. Bumrah picked up nine wickets in the match as India defeated England by 106 runs to level the five-match Test series 1-1.
Bumrah’s yorker to Ollie Pope was the highlight of the Test match.
“The yorker was the first delivery I learnt. While playing with the tennis ball, I learnt it. I saw on the television Waqar, Wasim and Zaheer execute it and I learnt it,” Bumrah said at the post-match presentation.
It was a day where Bumrah again showed all his worth and might. He picked up the wickets of Jonny Bairstow, Ben Foakes and Tom Hartley to end England’s resistance.
Can’t think of anyone Hemant 😉.

“I don’t look at numbers. When I was young, I looked at numbers and got excited. But I don’t look at it now. It gives extra baggage. The important thing was to win and I’m happy with it,” he said.
When asked about being the leader of the pace bowling attack, Bumrah said: “Not a leader. But I feel I have played a good amount of cricket as we are in a transition period. So, I feel it’s my responsibility to give the youngsters knowledge.”
Bumrah also explained what the conversation, he had with captain Rohit Sharma in the middle.
“Rohit has seen me growing up. We have conversations about what we should be doing and what not to do,” he said.
On a pitch, where spinners were struggling, Bumrah alongside James Anderson displayed the fast bowling masterclass.
“I’m a fast bowling fan. I love watching fast bowling and I don’t feel I have to pull up my socks. If somebody’s doing well, kudos to them.,” he said.
“I look at the situation, at the wicket and think what are my options. I should not be a one-trick pony. I should execute it on the conditions that I play in.”
