Ben Stokes expresses determination and optimism after England’s Test series loss against India | Cricket News – Times of India

NEW DELHI: England‘s cricket captain, Ben Stokes, addressed reporters on Monday following the team’s loss against India in the Test series, expressing a mix of determination and optimism despite the disappointing outcome.
Stokes acknowledged India’s superior skill, stating, “On this occasion, their skill was better than ours.”
He further added, “Obviously we want to win every game we play, and win every series…we will be involved in plenty more series going forward.”Under Stokes and coach Brendon McCullum‘s leadership, England had adopted an attacking philosophy known as “Bazball.”
Stokes highlighted the philosophy’s essence, stating, “You can have it all taken away from you at the click of a finger, so why not enjoy every opportunity you have to play?”

He emphasized the importance of maintaining a positive attitude, regardless of the circumstances.
Reflecting on the series, Stokes recognized the challenges of playing in Indian conditions.

Despite personal contributions as a batsman, including a crucial 70 in the opening Test, Stokes admitted, “It was very obvious they sensed an opportunity to really put us under pressure.”
He praised Indian spinners for their effectiveness, noting, “When you’ve got three world-class spinners operating in conditions like that, you know you’re going to be up against it.”
Stokes also highlighted the efforts of the newly introduced spinners to the squad, particularly Shoaib Bashir, who secured eight wickets in the fourth Test.
However, England’s batting struggles were evident as they were dismissed for 145 in the second innings of the fourth Test, setting India a modest target for victory.
Despite the series loss, Stokes remained optimistic about England’s future prospects in the upcoming series. He concluded by reiterating the importance of maintaining a positive mindset and enjoying the journey, regardless of setbacks.
