Abrar Ahmed hospitalised after suffering from high fever in Multan Test

Pakistan leg spinner Abrar Ahmed has been hospitalized after falling ill during the ongoing first Test against England at Multan Cricket Stadium, Multan. Notably, the wrist spinner bowled 34 overs on Day 3 of the Test but didn’t take the field on Day 4 and complained of a high fever and body aches.

According to ESPNCricinfo, he was taken to the hospital for examination where he was later admitted. Ahmed didn’t have a memorable time with the ball in the Test as he was taken to the cleaners by the England batters who scored 174 runs from his 35 overs making him bowl at an economy of five.

Pakistan vs England, 1st Test Day 4 Highlights

Including Abrar, Pakistan captain Shan Masood tried seven bowlers in the first innings who couldn’t save their team from the mayhem of the England batters. The visitors posted the fourth-highest score in Test history scoring 823/7d after Pakistan scored 556 in the first innings.

Harry Brook (317) and Joe Root (262) starred with the bat for England as the duo got involved in a record 454-run partnership for England. Brook became the sixth England batter to score a triple hundred as his innings as his innings was studded with 29 fours and three sixes. On the other hand, Root registered his highest score in Tests while scoring his sixth double hundred.

Pakistan staring at another home Test defeat

After taking a massive 257 –run lead in the first innings, England bowlers were up to the task in the second innings as they left Pakistan staring down the barrel at stumps on Day as they’re 152/6 trailing by 115 runs in the second innings.

Abdullah Shafique (0), Saim Ayub (25), Shan Masood (11), Babar Azam (5), Saud Shakeel (29) and Mohammad Rizwan (10) all failed to score big in the second innings leaving their team in a precarious position. Gus Atkinson (2/28) and Brydon Carse (2/39) were the chief destroyers of Pakistan who’re now on the brink of the sixth consecutive Test loss on home soil.
