Tampa men, Nova Southeastern women win 2024 DII swim and dive championships

For the first time in program history, the University of Tampa has claimed the 2024 DII men’s swimming and diving national championship. Nova Southeastern was named the 2024 women’s national champion for the second straight year.

In Saturday’s national championship meet, Nova Southeastern, led by head coach Ben Hewitt, took home the women’s title after scoring a total of 487 points followed by runner-up Colorado-Mesa with 461.5 points. 

Tampa, led by head coach Jimi Kiner, claimed its first national title after leading with a total of 473 points. Drury fell behind the Spartans with 409 points.

The 2024 NCAA Division II men’s and women’s swimming and diving championships began on Wednesday, March 27, at the IU Natatorium in Indianapolis, and continued through the last events on Saturday, March 16 in Geneva, Ohio at the SPIRE Institute Aquatics Center. NCAA DII swimming and diving championship history

The UIndy men and the Nova Southeastern women are the reigning DII national champs, taking home the 2023 titles with 527 and 536.5 points, respectively.

After winning seven straight men’s and women’s DII championships, Queens (N.C.) moved to compete at the Division I level beginning in the 2022-23 season. UIndy men claimed the 2023 DII title but runner-up Drury has historically done well — winning 10 straight trophies from 2005-14.
