Duke women’s soccer shuts out No. 2 North Carolina

The Duke women’s soccer team stuck it to its Tobacco Road rival Thursday night when it shut out No. 2 North Carolina, 1-0.

The Blue Devils’ win snapped a six-game winning streak by the Tar Heels.

With just seconds remaining in the first half, Maggie Graham found the back of the net thanks to a pass from Mia Minestrella. It was Graham’s second goal of the year and second in as many games.

Not only did the Blue Devils (3-1, 1-0 ACC) hold the Tar Heels scoreless for 90 minutes, but it marked their third straight game without surrendering a goal. They have only given up one goal this season, a losing effort to Ohio State on Aug. 15.

North Carolina (6-1, 0-1 ACC) will have to wait nearly two months for a shot at revenge. The two rivals don’t meet again until Oct. 31.
