APT Taipei 2024 Smashes Several Records; Awards Largest Main Event Prize in Taiwanese History

Where Does APT Taipei Poker Classic 2024 Take Place?

You’ve seen the massive schedule, so it shouldn’t be surprising to discover that APT Taipei Poker Classic 2024 takes place across two venues: CTP Asia Poker Arena and the Chinese Mahjong League (CML). Both are located in central Taipei; it takes approximately 40 minutes to reach them in a taxi from the Taoyuan International Airport.

Most of the action takes place at the CTP Asia Poker Arena in the Zhongzheng District, while High Roller and mixed games are run from the Chinese Mahjong League in the nearby Sonshan District.

Jumping in a taxi is the easiest way to get from the airport to either of the tournament venues. You can pre-book an airport pick-up or drop-off via APT’s official travel partner, Travel As Locals. Prices range from $36 for two people plus luggage to $49 for four people plus luggage, one way.

The Airport Line (Express) train stops at the airport and will take you to Taipei Main Station in approximately 80 minutes. From Taipei Main Station, you can either take a short five-minute walk to Rear Station, where you can catch the #52 bus to Zhongshan Girls High School, which is nine stops (13 minutes) away.

The Beimen Station is also a five-minute walk from Taipei Main Station. From here, catch the Songshan-Xindian MRT for two stops to Songjiang Nanjing Station. The CTP Asia Poker Arena is a ten-minute walk once you get off the bus.

Save Time Queuing By Registering for an APT Registration Card Online

APT festivals, particularly those held in Taipei, are immensely popular so it will save you a lot of time if you apply for your APT Registration Card online. Once you have the card, you can use it for all future APT Events, but you can’t play in tournaments without one. Reduce the time spent in a queue by sorting things out in advance.

Where to Fill Your Bellies in Taipei

Don’t worry if you’re not a local and think that the Taipei cuisine won’t be to your taste because Taipei has many dining options, most within a short distance of the tournament venues. You’ll find everything from American barbeque to Chinese, Indian to Japanese and Korean, and even Western-style pub and takeaways to enjoy.

Baba Kevin’s American Barbecue smokes all its meat in traditional Texas fashion, making it the perfect joint for meat lovers. You’ll find this restaurant in Alley 8, Lane 303, Section 3 on Nanjing E Road in the Songshan District; getting there by cab takes eight-to-ten minutes from APT Taipei 2024’s venues.

No. 128, Songjiang Road in the Zhongshan District, is where you will stumble upon the Yang Shin Vegetarian Restaurant. It offers a fusion of Western culinary concepts, local Taiwanese ingredients, Japanese cooking skills, and Chinese techniques as the chefs produce some incredible vegetarian cuisine.

Also in the Zhongshan District, at No. 1-1, SonJiang Road, is the Mayur Indian Kitchen Restaurant & Shisha Bar. This restaurant offers an Indian and Chinese menu, vegan dishes, and a dedicated hookah shisha lounge.

The JUJU Spanish Gastrobar at No. 31, Lane 8, Section 3, Bade Rd, Songshan District, is renowned for its tapas and classic Spanish dishes like seafood paella. Churchill’s Sausages is a British-owned food delivery service specializing in sausages and pies; they even do a fantastic Full English Breakfast! Find them at Shilin District, Section 7, Zhongshan N Rd, 572.

Everyone must enjoy some downtime, especially if they’ve endured more than their fair share of bad beats at the poker tables. Thankfully, Taipei is awash with bars and bustling nightspots where you can dance the night away, watch live sporting events, or chill out with a cocktail or three.

Of course, the entertainment highlight is the APT Players Party on October 3. However, if you fancy dancing the night away or enjoying your favorite tipple before then, you should head to HAKU Taipei, Triangle, the James Joyce Irish Bar, or soak up the latest sporting events at the Brass Monkey Taipei.

APT also suggests visiting the city’s famous night markets, particularly the Raohe Street Night Market in the Songshan District just south of the Rainbow Bridge; it’s open every night from 5:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.
