Transfer Talk: Man Utd will face competition for £60m-rated Olise

The summer transfer window won’t reopen in Europe for a while yet, but there are plenty of moves in the works and gossip is swirling around. Transfer Talk brings you all the latest buzz on rumours, comings, goings and, of course, done deals!

TOP STORY: Race for Palace star Olise heating up

Manchester United are aware that they will face stiff competition in the race to sign Crystal Palace winger Michael Olise, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Romano’s report comes after ESPN sources confirmed last week that United are considered the frontrunners to sign the France under-21 international should he leave Selhurst Park.

Olise reportedly has release clause in the region of £60 million that will become active this summer, although the Red Devils may even offer former Palace right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka as part of a deal to help boost their transfer budget, as there will be limitations needed to keep them within the Premier League‘s profit and sustainability rules.

Olise is seen by United new hierarchy as a key target to be signed as part of the summer rebuild at Old Trafford, with the club not being deterred by their inability to offer him Champions League football as they currently sit eighth in the Premier League table.

Even so, talks are not at an advanced stage and the likes of Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain are also understood to be scouting the 22-year-old.

PAPER GOSSIP

Napoli, Internazionale and Juventus are all interested in Torino defender Alessandro Buongiorno, says Sky Sports Italia. The first two of those names are very keen to move for the 24-year-old, while Juventus would only do so if one of their big-name defenders were to leave during the transfer window.

AC Milan have joined Juventus in looking at Genoa midfielder Morten Frendrup as a possible option for the summer transfer window, according to Calciomercato. However, head coach Stefano Pioli is under pressure in the Rossoneri dugout and any transfer decisions may be delayed until his future is made clear.

Florian Plettenberg has reiterated that it is almost certain that Assan Ouedraogo will leave Schalke 04 in the summer, although it is added that the midfielder could be loaned back to the 2. Bundesliga club. RB Leipzig and Bayern Munich are both in strong positions to bring in the 17-year-old, who has also been scouted by Manchester United, while VfB Stuttgart, Werder Bremen and TSG Hoffenheim are also interested in him.

Everton are leading the race to sign SC Freiburg midfielder Merlin Rohl, claims The Sun, which adds that there is also interest from Newcastle United and Crystal Palace. The Toffees are hoping to offload Amadou Onana — who has been linked with a £50m move to Barcelona — and the 21-year-old is seen as a possible replacement for the Belgium international, especially as he would be available at around £12m.

Ipswich Town have already been linked with a transfer move following their promotion to the Premier League, with The Sun suggesting that they want Coventry City midfielder Ben Sheaf. They will face competition from Fulham and Luton Town for the 26-year-old, who is rated at around £10m.
