SRH needed 13 to win off the last over of their match against KKR at the Eden Gardens and pacer Harshit Rana ended up taking two wickets and conceding just eight runs to pull the hosts to victory in their first match of the 2024 season of the IPL. (PTI)

SRH captain Pat Cummins won the toss and chose to bowl first. Phil Salt got Kolkata Knight Riders off to a sensational start and then the Andre Russell show rolled into town. Salt got the hosts off to a flier with a hat-trick of sixes in the second over. Salt went on to score a half-century while standing by as KKR’s top order fell apart. He scored 54 in 40 balls. (PTI)

KKR were tottering at 51/4 with Venkatesh Iyer, Shreyas Iyer and Nitish Rana all going cheaply. Sunil Narine opened the innings with Salt but was run out in the second over. KKR’s innings was revived by Ramandeep Singh alongwith Salt. Ramandeep smashed 35 in 17. Rinku Singh also provided an impetus after arriving at the crease. (PTI)

Salt fell soon after scoring a half-century and that brought in Andre Russell to bat with Rinku Singh. Russell ended up smashing seven sixes and three fours as he finished unbeaten on 64 off 25. He put up an 81-run stand with Rinku Singh that came in just 33 balls. Rinku himself scored 23 in 15 balls.(ANI )

Russell contributed with the ball as well taking the wicket of SRH opener Abhishek Sharma who scored 32 in 19 balls and then Abdul Samad in the 17th over. (PTI)

Heinrich Klaasen and Shahbaz Ahmed brought SRH back from the dead. The pair smashed 58 runs in 16 balls and Klaasen scored 63 in 29 balls. Shahbaz faced just five balls but clobbered 16 runs. (PTI)
