Go, Flames, Go

With the Calgary Flames starting the regular season, the question that was put in the paper about making the playoffs, some people said ‘no.’ The people that said no are wrong. If a team plays good hockey and wins lots of games, they are a team that makes the playoffs. Calgary has a young team. Go, Flames, Go.

INGRID BAUMANN

(If the Flames were supposed to roll over and play dead this year, nobody told them that. It’s been a heckuva start so far.)

Liberal Q&A

Question. Why did the Liberals wait so long to address the major concerns of Canadian voters? Answer. Because they were not in trouble like they are now, in the polls and in caucus. They must now follow the priorities of voters and not of their leader who never should have been. And why does our PM get to politicize everything, including his interference testimony, while denying all wrongdoing and throwing out accusations? Because he is in trouble.

GEORGE EWERT

(Things have become mighty uncomfortable for the Grits.)

More pipe repairs

(Re: City begins more repair work on feeder main without water restrictions) Just like in the game of Whac-A-Mole, you hit one down its hole and just like that, two or three more pop up, out of nowhere.

DONALD K. MUNROE

(It does seem like a neverending story, doesn’t it?)

Asking for trouble

This is getting ridiculous. With the 33-34 Ave. S.W. project ongoing and construction on 17, 18 and 19 St. S.W., we get heavy equipment running ‘Stop’ signs daily. Hey, drivers, we got kids in our neighbourhood. Slow down. You are getting paid by the hour, not the mile.

PERRY HUBER

(Yep, safety first, folks. Let’s be careful out there.)

Liberal stink

I disagree with Jerry Agar concerning his take on Mark Carney (‘Can a Trudeau successor overcome the stink of Liberals?’ Oct. 15). By taking on the advisory position paid for by the Liberal Party, Carney has associated himself with the Liberal Stink. He is supposed to be leading some sort of committee, but it is a committee of one — himself. He has no accountability for possible conflicts of interest and cannot be called before the ethics commissioner for investigation. Liberal Stink, yes indeed.

VIVIENNE EDWARDS

(It doesn’t appear Trudeau is going anywhere any time soon so the speculation may be all for naught)
