Serious improvement on announcement

Article content

Being just a humble member of Peoplekind, I don’t understand what Trudeau said. Did he moistly say he would appoint a ‘Rapporteur’ or a Rapper On Tour? If he did say ‘Rapper on tour’ I think that new Chinese rapper ‘Big Daddy Bomb’ would be a good choice. No pressure.

TERRY TOLL

(First federal announcement we could all get behind.)

Shrewd move

Is it even possible for the prime minister to sound more pompous? While stalling for time, with all the reports of Beijing’s interference and support for his government, he knew that some sort of action had to be taken. As such, he announced that an “eminent Canadian” would soon be appointed as special rapporteur. While obviously this Canadian won’t be as ‘eminent’ as the PM, he and his handlers clearly felt that special rapporteur sounded far less implicating than independent investigator. See, not only smug, but shrewd.

AL WILLEY

(It isn’t nothing, but it was disappointing.)

The right gal for the job

We all know that the PM is looking for an independent special rapporteur. Why not go for Ms. Jody Wilson Raybould? She has all the credentials and will get a majority of votes.

JOHN LANGEVELD

(That would be a move we would enjoy watching play out.)

Viable wells are out there

Re: Just a carrot letter: You are not the only one asking these questions about the orphaned well incentive. All of us want new wells drilled in Alberta. Yes, every new well will add jobs and will keep the oil and gas talent in house. During 2008 the oil price took a major dump and companies walked away from Alberta. Many suspended wells are capable of producing a worthwhile amount of hydrocarbon, oil and gas. There are also other usages for them that could be undertaken. The real question is how is Mrs Smith planning to spend the 100s of millions that could be made.

Check those numbers

Apparently Rachel Notley does not like Travis Toews and thinks that she is better at finances than him. A quick look at her and the NDP/union bosses record from 2015-2019 shows otherwise. The inflation relief program was never intended to be permanent but rather a way to help Albertans cope while inflation starts coming down, otherwise it would be inflationary itself. Anything from Notley or her sidekick Shannon Phillips should be taken with the proverbial grain of salt. I think that they have proven time and again how useless I think they are.

GLENN W. HARRISON

(It is pretty easy to find ways to agree with yourself.)
