Florida State Collapses

After an undefeated 2023 regular season and a preseason No. 10 ranking, the Seminoles have dropped outside of the top 25. Florida State headlined Week 0 action against Georgia Tech in Dublin, Ireland, but a walk-off field goal from the Yellow Jackets handed the Seminoles only their second loss since 2022.

Then Week 2 came around — an opportunity for the Seminoles to get back on track at home against a Boston College team predicted to finish in the bottom five of the ACC media poll. But Bill O’Brien had his new squad more than prepared, as the Eagles jumped out to an early 14-0 lead en route to a 28-13 victory in Tallahassee

The Seminoles are quickly 0-2 in the ACC, and Mike Norvell’s squad will face a serious uphill battle for the remainder of the season to get back in the hunt for a College Football Playoff berth.

Biggest Movers

📈 Risers

No. 13 Southern California makes the move of the week, catapulting 10 spots after its 27-20 win over then-No. 13 LSU. Trojan quarterback Miller Moss shined, going 27 for 36 and 378 yards with a touchdown in the win.

Miami (Fla.) made some moves as well after its commanding 41-17 victory over Florida in the swamp. The Hurricanes jumped from No. 19 to No. 12 after Cam Ward put on a show in Gainesville. Lastly, Notre Dame cracks the top five after holding the Aggies to just 13 points in College Station.

📉 Fallers

As previously mentioned, Florida State had the biggest fall. But outside of the Seminoles, Clemson almost joined them, dropping 11 spots all the way to No. 25 after its 34-3 loss to No. 1 Georgia.

LSU moves down five spots to No. 18 following its matchup with Southern California. Finally, after garnering a No. 3 preseason rank, Oregon dropped to No. 7 after struggling to beat Idaho in Eugene.

Week 2 top matchups

No. 3 Texas at No. 10 Michigan headlines the Week 2 action. This will be just the second time in history that these two historic programs face off. Their only other matchup came in the 2005 Rose Bowl, where the Vince Young-led Longhorns edged out the Wolverines 38-37 in Pasadena, California.

Here are the five games to keep an eye on in Week 2:
