Ishan Kishan set to make domestic comeback for Jharkhand in upcoming season | Cricket News – Times of India

NEW DELHI: Swashbuckling wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan is all set to make a domestic comeback in the upcoming season and will represent Jharkhand, a Cricbuzz report said.
Ishan made himself available for the upcoming season and the Jharkhand State Cricket Association has included the 26-year-old in the list of 25 pre-season probables.
Ishan’s decision to feature in domestic cricket reportedly comes after some of his ‘well-wishers and national selectors’ advised him on the matter. It was pointed out to Ishan that he is missing out on opportunities in international cricket.
Last year, Ishan had missed the entire domestic season, going against express instructions from the BCCI and national selectors. Before that, he had surprisingly returned from the South Africa tour midway.
Ishan only featured in the Indian Premier League this year and for that he prepared in an academy in Baroda.
Following the events, Ishan was subsequently dropped from BCCI’s central contract list of players and was also not considered for the T20 World Cup in the Americas.
Ishan, who has a rare double century in ODIs, featured in two Tests, 27 ODIs, and 32 T20Is between July 2021 to November 2023.
The left-hander was part of the India 50-over World Cup team but did not play a single match in the tournament in India.
India’s domestic season begins with the Duleep Trophy which will be held from September 5 in Andhra Pradesh.
It is likely, Ishan might also be considered for a leadership role in the domestic season.
