‘Focus on cricket, not parties’: Wasim Akram issues warning to… | Cricket News – Times of India

NEW DELHI: Prithvi Shaw had emerged as a future star but his inconsistency with the bat and off the field issues jolted the young batter’s career. He now found himself at the centre of criticism for his inconsistent performance in the IPL 2024 season for Delhi Capitals.
Despite high expectations, his batting failed to consistently contribute to his team’s success.Shaw’s fluctuating scores raised questions about his form and focus. The opener showed flashes of brilliance with a few cameos but struggled to maintain form throughout the tournament.

In 8 matches, he has made 198 runs at a strike rate of 163.63.

Legendary Pakistan fast bowler Wasim Akram commented on Prithvi Shaw’s struggles in the current IPL season. Akram acknowledged Shaw’s talent but offered advice to the Indian youngster to go to the basics and play first-class cricket.
“I haven’t watched him closely this year, but he has to go back to basics, play first-class cricket and score big. Focus on cricket, not parties,” Akram told Sportskeeda.
“He has still got plenty of cricket in him, just go back and play first-class cricket. Get a lot of centuries and make a comeback. That’s the only way. There’s no shortcut. He has got time on his hands, and that’s good for him,” Akram further said.
Shaw’s last appearance for Team India was in 2021 during the white-ball series against Sri Lanka. Akram emphasized the importance of Shaw playing consistently and taking care of himself off the field.
“He has to play regularly, and look at himself off the field. Do as many parties as you want after you retire, who cares. But now, focus on cricket,” he said.
