NEW DELHI: Saurabh Netravalkar has become an overnight sensation in both India and the United States, taking the ongoing T20 World Cup by storm with his breathtaking performances in the group stage of the cricketing extravaganza.
After delivering a jaw-dropping Super Over to shock Pakistan, Mumbai-born Netravalkar starred against India as well on Wednesday, first removing star Virat Kohli for a golden duck and then getting rid of skipper Rohit Sharma (3).
His terrific performances so far in the tournament have made software engineer Netravalkar a household name and his rise to fame is now even overshadowing India stars.
After India’s win over the USA, even Player of the Match Arshdeep Singh‘s performance was overlooked as reporters covering the game, reportedly skipped his press conference for an interview with Netravalkar.

The ICC sometimes allows player access in a mixed-media zone and on Wednesday, Netravalkar was the player available for an interaction.
A few journalists covering the game did not want miss the opportunity and opted to skip Arshdeep presser for Netravalkar.
Swashbuckling Suryakumar Yadav hit an unbeaten half-century after left-arm seamer Arshdeep claimed a career-best 4 for 9 as India defeated the USA by seven wickets to reach the T20 World Cup Super 8s.
Chasing 111 to win the Group A clash, India were rattled at 15 for 2 and then 44 for 3 before Surya (50) and Shivam Dube (31) put on an undefeated fourth-wicket stand of 67 to secure a third win in three games for Rohit Sharma’s team with 10 balls to spare.
Netravalkar after the game also had a happy reunion with his former Mumbai teammates Rohit and Suryakumar.
