Meshack Lelgut takes silver as Etienne Daguinos breaks European 10km Record in France – Athletics News

Former Mediterranean U23 5000m Champion, Etienne Daguinos shattered the European 10km record at the Urban Trail de Lille 10km Road Race on Saturday (16) in Lille, France.

The 24 year-old lowered his compatriots, Jimmy Gressier record of 27:07 that he set in March this year at the 10km de Lille with a new European Record and personal best of 27:04.

“I can’t believe it, some predicted this time for me but I didn’t believe it. I knew I had very good legs at the Valencia half-marathon,” said Daguinos.

Daguinos who trains at US Talence Club, was closely followed by two Kenyans Meshack Lelgut and Charles Rotich who are managed by Amos Kimutai from KipRun stable.

Lelgut scored a new personal best of 27:16 while taking second place with Rotich who was making his debut over the distance, sealing the podium three finishes in 27:18.

Kenya’s Brian Kibor and Gilje Narve Nordas of Norway finished in fourth and fifth place in respective time of 27:30 and 27:31.
