Fixtures for 2024-25 season confirmed – LUCA

2024-25 Fixture List confirmed

The 2024-25 LUCA season gets under way in less than a week.

The LUCA XC League returns with it’s traditional Parliament Hill curtain raiser on Wednesday 23rd October, hosted by UCL.

The four-race league will feature all the favourite venues including Mitcham Common, Wimbledon and Wormwood Scrubs.

In a change from previous years, students at universities not affiliated with LUCA but in London or the South East will be score and be eligible for medals. These athletes must register on the website and pay their league subscriptions before racing. Guests are also welcome and must pay upon registration. Athletes at LUCA affiliated clubs register for free.

The last season for the University of London Championships

Historically, Wimbledon has also played host to the University of London XC Championships. The indoor and outdoor championships also have hosted embedded University of London championships. However, the LUCA council voted to abolish the UL Championships effective from next season. Hence this season provides an opportunity to go down in history as the final winner of the UL championships.

The decision was made in light of the disbandment of the University of London Athletics Club and the recognition that hosting UL and LUCA championships created an arbitrary difference between eligible and non-eligible clubs.

Brunel University London has recently joined the UL federation, meaning they have the chance to win the UL Championships in their first year eligible and the final year the competition runs.

Pre-BUCS Open meet heads to London Stadium

Well not quite. But close. The pre-BUCS open meet will take place at the London Marathon Community Track on the 23rd March 2025.

Indoor championships take place at Lee Valley on 30th November with entries opening on the 20th October.

Outdoor championships will take place at Battersea Park on 31st May.
