Diamond League final returns to Zürich in 2025

The 2025 season will feature 15 meets across four continents and 13 countries, with more prize money on offer to athletes

The Diamond League final will return to Zürich next season for the first time in two years.

Next year’s Weltklasse Zürich takes place on August 27-28, bringing the curtain down on a Diamond League season that features 15 meets across four continents and 13 countries.

The 2025 season kicks off in Xiamen on April 26 and the Diamond League remains in China for Shanghai/Suzhou on May 3.

After that is Doha and Rabat before the European leg of the season kicks off in Rome on June 6.

Meets in Oslo, Stockholm and Paris follow before athletes fly to Oregon for Pre Classic on July 5.

Over the following fortnight, they will then compete in Monaco and London before a break takes place at the start of August.

The Diamond League returns with Silesia on August 16 and then it’s Lausanne and Brussels before the big showdown in Zürich.

With next year’s World Championships taking place in Tokyo in September (13-21), Weltklasse Zürich will essentially be the final opportunity for athletes to hone their craft before travelling to Japan.

A total of around $18 million will be paid to athletes in total over the course of next year’s Diamond League season.

The prize pot per discipline will be between $30,000 and $50,000 at each of the series meets and between $60,000 and $100,000 for the final.

Each discipline at the Diamond League will be staged between four and seven times in the series meets next season.

“The Wanda Diamond League remains committed to rewarding the athletes more, whilst at the same time ensuring the long-term sustainability of the series, so it continues to provide vital competition to the athletes for many more years to come,” said Petr Stastny, CEO of Diamond League.

“In an ever-changing landscape in the sports, media and entertainment world, we have always been on the forefront of innovation in our sport of athletics. Featuring a total of 32 disciplines over each season, we provide the world’s best athletes the opportunity to compete at the highest possible level.

“Having competitors from around 100 countries every year allows for TV audiences in 150 countries and territories, making our series a truly universal and global league.”
