The race organisers of the fourth edition of the Kirdam Half Marathon, launched the highly anticipated event today at Riadha House in Nairobi.
The colorful event was graced by Member of the National Assembly for Baringo Central, Joshua Chepyegon Kandie, who is the race patron, ELizabeth Keitany, Athletics Kenya Executive Member and the race Local Organising Committee Chairman (LOC), Isaiah Cherutich.
The Kirdam Half Marathon is slated to be held on November 23, 2024 at Kabarnet, Baringo Central Constituency, Baringo County.
The race will reward the top ten winners and the winner for both gender going home with a whooping Kshs 250,000. The race has been categorized into three main events; The 21Km, 10km and the 6Km Corporate Run.
The theme of the 2024 Kirdam Half Marathon, similar to last year’s is Athletics against climate change. The main objectives of the race are to promote environmental conservation through tree planting exercises, protection of water catchment areas, promotion of healthy living through sports, promotion of local tourism as well as creating family-fun days for local residents and sports enthusiasts. These are among many other measures aimed at improving human lives and protection of the environment.

A tree planting exercise supervised by the Kenya Forest Service (KFS) at the Kirandich Dam Water catchment area will take place on the eve of the race (22nd November 2024) in our efforts to play a greater role in environmental conservation and re-afforestation.
The 21Km will start at Timboiywo Centre and ends at Kabarnet town while the 10km Road Race starts from Kapsogo Trading Centre and ends in Kabarnet town. The two races start at 08:00 am
The 10km winners will take home Kshs 100,000 for both genders with the top ten athletes also being rewarded with cash prize.
The major sponsors of 2024 Kirdam Half Marathon include the Kenyan Forest Service (KFS), Kenya Commercial Bank, Central Rift Valley Works Development Agency, National Social Security Fund (NSSF), Tourism Fund, Kenya Power & Lighting Company, Kenya Ports Authority (KPA), Equity Bank, Co-operative Bank, Boresha Sacco, and Office of Data Protection Commissioner among other institutions.
We expect a huge turnout of athletes to participate in the race that has now proven to be a popular event in the athletic sporting.
