The 2024 NCAA DII wrestling championship will soon have a winner as competition concludes today, March 16 in Wichita, Kansas, at Hartman Arena. DII national qualifiers were released here on Sunday, March 3.

The Championships Committee has allocated 180 positions for the championships by selecting from 30 qualifiers in each region. One replacement, or fourth-place finisher, will be allowed to compete. From there, each student-athlete will be seeded by their won-lost record at the qualifying tournaments.

Each championship event will consist of rounds — 120 matches during rounds one and two. 90 matches will take place during round three on March 15 followed by 10 matches during the championship finals. The top eight seeded wrestlers will be placed in the bracket according to their seed. The remaining ten wrestlers will be drawn randomly.

NCAA DII wrestling championship history
The DII wrestling national championship dates back to 1963, skipping 2020 due to COVID-19, with the first-ever championship trophy going to Western State. Cal State, Cal Poly Bakersfield and Central Oklahoma tie with 8 national titles — making them the winningest teams in championship history. Nebraska-Omaha falls right behind with seven championship titles.
Central Oklahoma broke a 15-year hiatus after winning the 2023 national championship for the first time since 2007 after defeating Lander, 121-78. Below is a list of all DII wrestling champs since 1963.
